Other Blackjack Strategies
There are slight variations to basic Blackjack strategy depending on house rules
and/or the number of card decks, so please read the rules of individual tables before
starting to play. The above is a basic strategy table for 3 or more Blackjack decks.
This Blackjack strategy has worked for many players and has been created to give
you a greater advantage over the house.
NB! Always remember to first read the rules of the Blackjack table
you want to play at before using any Blackjack strategy!
Is Card Counting in Blackjack a Strategy?
In a word, YES! Any form of rational premeditated choice that benefits your game
of Blackjack can be called a Blackjack Strategy and card counting certainly is a
rational choice and most certainly does provide benefits to your game. The good
news is that (no matter what the land based casinos may say) it is a perfectly legitimate
strategy to use when playing Blackjack. It is the genuine, real deal casino strategy
that works for Online Blackjack!
So how does Card Counting in Blackjack work?
Card Counting is based on the laws of simple probability and it does not, contrary
to popular belief, take a mathematical genius to understand the way it works. It
is simply a means of continuously analysing high and low-value cards throughout
the course of a game (high-value cards are good for players, while cards with a
low-value are good for the dealer).
High value cards are good for a player because the dealer must hit if they have
less than 17 – a 5 card allows the dealer to make at least 17 out of any stiff
hand, but a 10 card would make it much more difficult for them to play the hand
without going “bust”.
Using a good card counting method allows you to determine when there are more high
cards than low cards left in the card packs being played on the table – this
is the time to raise your bets and hit the casino when they are at a distinct disadvantage!
Do you have to memorise cards to be able to Card Count?
No you don’t need to memorise every card played! Try assigning a value
(also called a tag) to each card. For example, the Hi-Lo (or point counting) Blackjack
Strategy gives a +1 value to 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 number cards and a –1 value
to every 10, Jack, King, Queen and Ace card. The 7, 8 and 9 cards have a value of
0.
The higher the positive count, the greater your edge over the house - when the positive
count is high, there is a higher number of high value cards remaining in the pack
and the dealer will “bust” more often.
A count close to zero indicates a neutral deck, so be aware of the trend moving
either in your favour or that of the casino.
A high negative count means that the advantage distinctly belongs to the house -
if you're already well up on the casino then think about walking away for the day
or alternatively play only very low stakes.
Please Note: Card Counting isn’t a miracle system, it won’t
give you a winning hand every time, but it will give you a vital edge over the casino
in the long-run.
