The Best CES 2020 Gadgets

CES, or the Consumer Electronics Show, is the place to be if you want a glimpse of the future. Or, to be more specific, the future of fancy gadgets. CES takes place in Las Vegas once a year, attracting the smartest tech designers from around the world. Yes, of course the showcase are impressive, but sometimes they’re also rather ridiculous.

If you happened to be caught up in a game of online Roulette and happened to miss CES 2020, never fear. We had a look, and rounded up 8 of the coolest, weirdest, or otherwise bizarre items that were showcased. Everything on this list is due out later this year, although on unspecified dates.

Samsung Wall TVs

Korean tech giant Samsung is well aware that there is no limit to the size a TV can be. That’s why they decided to go all out, making TVs so big that they are intended to literally occupy an entire wall. How big, you’re wondering? Why, just a casual 150 inches. Plus, each TV features 8K resolution, and frameless design.

Smart Shower Head

Given that Alexa is probably already somewhere in your house, why not allow her into your shower? Kohler showcased a smart shower head which, as you may have already guessed, is fitted with a speaker designed to hear you over the sound of running water. A great idea, only the device has to be removed and recharged periodically.

Remember the craze of Segway scooters not so long ago? Well, Segway are back, and have brought out something even more conspicuous than the scooter. Welcome to your new life of never having to stand up again. The S-Pod is a two wheeled, self-balancing, automated chair. Yes, it’s a little goofy looking, though we were rather stunned to learn that this thing can hit a top speed of 24 miles per hour. The S-Pod is controlled via a convenient joystick, and is pretty cool. Though it does seem potentially a little dangerous in the hands of the wrong person.

Samsung's Ballie at CESSource:

By far one of the coolest things at CES 2020, the Teslasuit is the sort of technology you always hoped for, but thought just might be impossible. The suit is designed to operate alongside VR, detecting the biometric data of the user, feeding it to the computer, and offering a more immersive experience. Additionally, it also offers full body motion capture and climate control. Wait, there’s more. The gloves offer integrated haptic feedback, which means that the user’s hand will be able to interact with ‘virtual textures.’

Uber Air Taxi

You’ve probably heard about it, but it’s worth mentioning again. Uber and Hyundai have joined forces to create the Uber Air Taxi. It is what you think it is, providing passengers with air travel to their desired destination. The aircraft looks something like a giant drone, and will be capable of carrying 4 passengers at around 180mph.

Smart Frame

Smart Frames aren’t new, but are now more advanced than ever before. The Lenovo Smart Frame has the added benefit of being light and temperature sensitive, meaning that the displayed image will adjust constantly, maintaining the most natural possible image.

AI Toothbrush

You know which industry hasn’t yet touted the benefits of AI? The toothbrush industry, of course. Oral-B introduced perhaps the silliest gadget at CES 2020. An AI powered toothbrush that, we’re not joking, will keep a person motivated throughout the tooth brushing experience. There are also personalised brushing modes, but we think the prospect your toothbrush urging you on is by far the best part of this.

Samsung weren’t shy about showcasing one of the most bizarre novelty gadgets in the entire show; Ballie. A small, robotic ball that seems to be intended as some sort of novelty pet. Does it make use of AI? You better believe it does, to follow you around, carry out basic commands, and even roll into your hand. What the purpose of it is really wasn’t made clear, other than to be expensive and perhaps show off to friends. Samsung suggested that the device might work as some sort of fitness companion, but in what way wasn’t exactly made clear. A cool little toy, but really nothing more than a tech gimmick, as far as we can tell.
