The Force is Here! Star Wars Lands Opening in 2019
Fans of the Star Wars franchise will be excited to know that the new opening dates for the new Star Wars themed attractions have been finalised at last. The Anaheim and Orlando Star Wars Lands were first revealed at the D23 EXPO in 2015, when CEO Bob Igor promised to turn many a dream into a reality with the creation and building of the Star Wars Lands at the Anaheim and Orlando Disneyland parks.
Set to open in 2019 summer and fall at Anaheim and Orlando respectively, fans can expect some never before seen experiences at the Galaxy’s Edge theme park. If you can’t wait until then, we suggest you check out some of the amazing space-inspired online pokies that will whisk you off into outer space on a whole different kind of intergalactic adventure!
A Galaxy Not So Far Away
Set on 14 acres of land each, the Galaxy’s Edge or Edges will transport visitors to the galaxy far, far away and give them opportunities to explore a whole new world.
Your journey begins on the planet Batuu, a remote station on the galaxy’s boundary. Once a bustling hub along the old trade routes, it is now the type of destination you go to collect crew of an unwanted sort, and supplies you do not want to be associated with. Here, visitors can spend their time with all kinds of Star Wars creatures while exploring this distant land.
Guests will also be able to take the controls of the famous Millennium Falcon, key to so many victories of the Rebel Alliance, and may find themselves in the centre of an epic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Your performance on the customised Millennium Falcon mission will determine the tone of the rest of your visit; bring her back battered and you could find yourself on a bounty hunter’s list, or you may find yourself skipping the queue at the local cantina if you performed well under pressure.
The local cantina will serve all manner of Star Wars inspired drinks and snacks, including the famous blue Bantha milk. Your experience here is directly related to your Millennium Falcon performance and this adds to the realism of the visit. You cannot sway the results either, you have to accept your fate and go with what happens!
The second attraction is one that has been created on a scale never before undertaken by the makers behind the Disneyland parks, a Star Destroyer. Visitors will enter the hanger space of this massive construction, not only putting your size into perspective, but the resources required to run these massive ships too. You get to get up close and personal with one of the most iconic capital ships and its weapons, in real life.
Meet The Famous Star Wars Faces
Guest will have the opportunity to meet familiar Star Wars characters like Chewbacca, First Order members and BB-8. In addition, the Toydarian from Tatooine will be the purveyor of galaxy inspired gifts and trinkets at the gift and creatures stall.
A quick glimpse at the released footage and photos of the current construction gives us an idea of the grand scale and creativity that has gone into creating this Star Wars inspired land. Although the site is currently mostly scaffolding and building machinery, one can certainly get an idea of what is in store for us, come 2019. As a Disney project, one can only expect that it will be on par with other offerings from the brand, and the entire build is rumoured to have cost over $1 billion.
Tickets are not yet on sale, but make sure you keep up to date with the latest developments, as it is rumoured that there may be an exclusive preview of the new attraction.
So, patience you must have young padawans, and may the force be with you. Your land, nearly ready it is.
